Consultation
Your comprehensive consultation with Dr. Kaniff will
allow you to freely discuss your desires and concerns.
It is important that you read all the information that
has been sent to you and fill out the questionnaire so
that you can take full advantage of this consultation
time. After reviewing your desires, concerns and physical
attributes, Dr. Kaniff will make recommendations as
how best to address your specific needs.
Every aspect of surgery from preoperative instruction
To postoperative recovery will be discussed. There
are no silly questions, so feel free discussing any
uncertainties you may have.
It may be necessary and useful during your consultation
to utilize video imaging to illustrate the potential results.
Also, a series of medical photographs will be taken during
the consultation to allow Dr. Kaniff to further study your
condition after you leave.
Scheduling Surgery
At the end of your consultation we will review the
finances of your surgery and possible surgical dates. In
scheduling your surgery, we are most concerned with
choosing a time that is convenient for you and one that meets
your work, school or vacation schedule. It will also be
necessary to schedule standard pre-operative lab work,
such as blood counts and electrocardiograms,
depending upon the type of surgery. Dr. Kaniff may
refer you to other medical specialists if your case
requires additional medical information. Financing options may be available.
The Day of Surgery
Prior to the day of surgery you will be given preoperative
instructions. It is important that you
follow these instructions as well as arrive on time
for your surgery in order to ensure that surgery
proceeds in an orderly manner.
Should your surgery require sedation, a family
member or friend will need to pick you up after
surgery.
For our out-of-town patients, overnight
accommodations the night of surgery may be
necessary.
